3 earring trends you’ll want to embrace this winter

Hands up if you wore big dangly earrings back in the early noughties? Yep, me too. Most definitely the jewellery must-have of that moment – we’re talking long beaded bohemian styles or even huge gold hoops (which inevitably caught on everything). I’m sure I bought out most of Accessorize at the time. And then suddenly they were gone… just like that. Replaced by dainty studs or less ‘dangerous’ ear decor!

But folks, they have returned. The cyclical world of fashion has brought these bold door knockers and chandeliers back from a long hiatus. They began to emerge from this designer dictated hibernation back in 2016 when Oscar de la Renta and Gucci decided it was time to go big. Back then only a brave number were ready to work these crazy danglers, but bring on 2017 – we are all obsessed.

Inspired by the catwalks, stores like H&M and Topshop have us hooked. Summer saw simple dresses paired with rainbow-hued tassel earrings and Instagram was and is all about #earrings. Now in the depths of AW17, the obsession continues. But which style most suits you? Will you go à la Isabel Marant in gold hoops? Work a bit of Oscar de la Renta glam in crystal chandeliers? It’s over to you, but I’ve picked out the top styles of the season to help you choose. It’s time to turn up the spangle…
