So it’s the the last week of the school holidays and you know what that means, right? Yep, dragging the kids into town for the annual last minute back-to-school shopping nightmare. Is there anything that can wash away all those sepia-soaked summer holiday memories quicker than this single experience? Every year I swear (literally swear) as I’m dragging my reluctant, whinging children round department stores that I’ll do it earlier in the holidays. Every year I fail.
However, there’s at least one part of the shopping process we all enjoy – stationery shopping. Getting them into John Lewis only works with the promise that we’ll visit Smiggle afterwards, but why should they get all the stationary fun? After all, September is a time for a new start for us as much as the kids. Yes, the holidays are over and it’s back to the old routine, but that’s not all bad. Coming back refreshed from summer holidays with a new focus on work/admin/home projects always makes me excited… especially if there’s a shopping opportunity in there somewhere for me.
So don’t just treat your kids to that super-cool new stationery; celebrate the new start by splashing out on some pretty new season additions to your office from 3 of our favourite brands:
This small Swedish brand was started in a one-bedroom apartment by Kristina Karlsson fifteen years ago. It has grown enormously online and also has 90 worldwide stores including their flagship UK store in Covent Garden plus one that opened in St Pancras this year. Their planners, diaries and journals, are catnip for stationery addicts (i.e. me!)
The high street essential for quirky home accessories, books and stationery – you’ll always find something cheerful to inspire you and brighten up your office space.
