3 shop drop: standout scarves

I’ll be honest, I’ve been wearing my scarf since mid September. Not because this cosy cover-up was seen on the runways at Byblos, Prada and Max Mara (although this season scarves should be long and blanket-style, fyi), but because it feels like the finishing touch to an outfit and yes, it also keeps my easily chilled bod nice and toasty. I feel naked without one, which I guess makes it a bit of a comfort blanket. No harm in that, though.

I believe every woman should have a collection of scarves, for warmth of course, but also to add a new twist to everyday looks. Wrapped gently round your neck or loosely knotted this accessory instantly adds a hint of relaxed elegance and laid-back style, not to mention a burst of colour (yellows, reds and blues are big news). Take a look through Pinterest to see just how cool the humble scarf can be. Now that I’ve convinced you of their grandeur and versatility, you can go find yourself one from these 3 great stores…

1. accessorize

Ah, the haven, the treasure trove of all accessories. This brand has been going as long as I can remember and for good reason. They provide the best finishing touches from hats to phone covers, gloves to… scarves, clearly. Dare I say it, it’s a bit like the adult version of Claire’s Accessories. You can always find a little treat to perk up your day.

2. mint velvet

Launched by 3 women fed up with the lack of relaxed-yet-glamorous clothing, Mint Velvet is the epitome of timeless style. It’s easy, but luxe; grown-up, but with a definite nod to trends. Put it this way, you buy a piece and you’ll be wearing it every season to come.

3. pull & bear

It’s owned by the same company that runs Zara – well, that’s a good sign, right? It’s like their cool little sister so already one reason to love. Plus its collections are inspired by Palm Springs (there’s the second reason!) It’s undeniably youth-targeted, but hey, we’re all young at heart…
