3 style: one knit three ways

In the first of our 3 style fashion series, we’ll be taking one item and styling it up in our own special ways – not just to give you some outfit inspiration, but also to show you how versatile a piece can be.

This month I’ve picked the girls a classic. For me, the winter must-have has got to be the chunky knit; made fabulous by the likes of J.Crew and Michael Kors, it’s no longer reserved for weekend lounging and blustery winter walks.

Here’s how we worked one perfect & Other Stories sweater:

This & Other Stories beauty ticks every box for me: it’s cream, it’s cable knit & it’s cosy. In my mind  big jumpers just have to be worn with jeans. Maybe it’s because I live in the countryside that I’ve leaned towards The Good Life look of flared jeans and vintage boots (although Ashling reassures me it’s more ’70s boho than Barbara Good!)

I like being comfortable, but I still like a hint of glam. The solution is to throw on some metallic and slip on my trainers. In this case, I went for a LOT of metallic (we’re talking borderline Quality Street), but worn with the cream & Other Stories sweater, the skirt doesn’t feel quite so extreme. That’s the beauty of a top like this, it makes eveningwear instantly day appropriate. And let’s face it, we could all do with a little shimmer to get us through the day.

Topshop leather studded crossbody bag, WAS £38, NOW £18

If I had my way it’d be stilettos all the way, but as a full time mum of two I have to tame my inner vixen in line with the realities of looking after the littles. So for me this is the ultimate adaptable knit. I can wear it to play dates during the week and yet it also works with a faux leather pencil skirt and killer heels for date night with the hub (without making me look try-hard). Either way I’m warm AND stylish.
