Khaki is a colour for all ages. Yep. I’m certain of it. From festival goers to school run mums, working women to glam grans – this hardy hue is not ageist. And given the current fickle state of sun-then rain-then hail-then sun, this shade is also trans-seasonal, working effortlessly in all conditions. It’s not too bright and yet not too dark; it’s safe, but not dull, and actually incredibly flattering.

Plus, those clever designers have made it a fashion must for both this season and next (despite it already being a classic and holding ranks up there with black, navy and white). We must thank the mastery of Valentino for military-inspired coats and Alexander Wang for the khaki trousers – so understated, so chic.
