ashling’s autumn #fashionbeautybooks edit

ashling wears: Studio B Rixo blouse; ASOS dungarees; Air & Grace Flutter trainers

‘Tis the season to indulge. New clothes, a bit of pampering and the perfect chilly weather to stay indoors and dive into a good book. Here’s my style picks for the weeks punctuated by Halloween festivities and the countdown to Christmas…

fashion

The crisp days allow for serious layering (I’m currently hiding out in a massive muppet-like parka from Mango – it’s ace). I adore the combination of smart blouses under boyish sweaters or dungarees and the luxury of wearing anything casual under an androgynous coat. And don’t get me started on the latest cult collab. If you’re a fan of the Netflix series Stranger Things (it’s back!), then prepare yourself. Ahead of Season 2, Topshop have released an exclusive, limited edition collection of ’80s inspired tees and sweatshirts. That’s autumn sorted.

beauty

Tired, lacklustre skin? Yep, me too. It’s like one October morning I woke up and some evil fairy stole my summer glow. Life’s mean. But thankfully there are potions to work small miracles. Madewell, one of my all-time favourites, has just launched Beauty Cabinet, a small edit of tried and tested products (not on animals, on the Madewell team!) and I’m hooked. The French Girl Lumière oil from said range promises to leave skin resilient and glowing. Also new on the block is skincare brand, Lixir. Created by Colette Haydon, a doctor in derma-pharmacy, this minimalistic brand is affordable AND set to work wonders on my frazzled face. Finally, after years of my Benefit mascara, I’ve swapped allegiance to this eye-opening Rodial mascara. Morning commute – I’m ready for you.

Madewell x French Girl lumiere body oil, £30.62 – BUY!

Lixir night switch retinol 1% serum, £28 – BUY!

Rodial Glamolash mascara, £24 – BUY!

books

In the midst of my house renovations sometimes the small details make all the difference. Just one beautiful purchase will begin to make it all feel like home. And believe me, there’s nothing more homely than books. So I’m on the hunt for gorgeous coffee table books and quirky interior inspiration. And when it all gets a tad overwhelming, I’ve got Dan Sheehan’s debut novel to distract me from the burly builders and crumbling plaster.

Peter Lindbergh – A different vision on fashion photography, £49.99 – BUY!

New York Behind Closed Doors, £24.05 – BUY!

Restless Souls by Dan Sheehan, £12.99 – PRE-ORDER!
