robyn’s #fashionbeautybooks holiday essentials

So depressingly my hubby and I have back-ended our holibobs this year. After an awesome, but utterly exhausting self-catering week with the kids in June, our next break isn’t until late September. But it’s gonna be so worth the wait. In celebration of the old man’s big 4-0, we’re hightailing it off to Dubai. *WITHOUT THE KIDS*. Eek.

Obviously this calls for some strategic summer spending. Fashion, beauty, books, I want it ALL and – total result – I’m actually going to have the time to enjoy it. WHOOP! Cue a HUGE self-indulgent splurge…

fashion

As there’s going to be a lot of beach/pool/boat action, swim attire is top of my list. Expensive bikinis are an indulgence BUT I’m obsessed with Heidi Klein and am investing as it’s a special occasion – I love this two piece. A slouchy, shiny tote is a no-brainer for carting around my sun lounger reads, whilst these Quay Australia mirrored shades are essential for hiding the inevitable morning after eye bags.

beauty

So many products to choose from! OBVIOUSLY I’m taking more than 3 but these are my heroes. A super bright lip (aptly named Sarong, what more could you want?!), a high SPF (because I BURN) and an awesome tinted moisturiser to blur those warm weather imperfections. The ultimate trio to stash in my River Island tote.

Ainsel London Lipstick in Sarong, £19.50 – BUY!

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser SPF15, £61 – BUY!

Avene Very High Protection Emulsion SPF50, £11.99 – BUY!

books

With actual head space on the horizon, my summer reading covers all my go-to genres: smutty romance, history reimagined and a dose of biographical kookiness. I’ve had the latest Jilly Cooper since June, holding out for the right moment to properly savour it whilst Philippa Gregory is one of my regular holiday companions. I’m truly fascinated to delve into Pamela Paul’s journey through the books of her life, so the difficult question is which to start first…

Riders by Jilly Cooper, £8.99 – BUY!

Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory, £7.99 – BUY!

My Life With Bob by Pamela Paul, £20.99 – BUY!
